Myra McGlynn provides expert support for clients at the very top of competitive, thriving industries. This support is based in my twenty years of experience working with C-Suite executives and industry leaders. I have worked with World Rugby, the international governing body of a rapidly growing sport. I am a qualified Executive, Leadership and Life Coach and a member of the European Mentoring & Coaching Council (EMCC). I was recently appointed as an Independent Director on the board of Rugby League Ireland. 

I have extensive experience of elite-level sporting governance. I understand the demands and challenges of working at the very top of national and international sporting bodies. In my role with World Rugby, I played a significant role in major processes such as the re-inclusion of rugby in the Olympic programme. I have also worked as an official mentor with Sport Ireland as part of their unique and highly successful M-Power programme, which helps young people develop skills to support their career ambitions.

This experiences has given me a deep understanding of the challenges faced by leaders in sport. I have collaborated with global sporting leaders and have provided mentoring and support to aspiring sporting leaders. I have worked with them to develop effect strategies and practices to overcome challenges. I have helped them to gain new insights and develop effective new approaches.

I am also highly qualified to provide coaching, having received my Advanced Diploma from Kingstown College, Dublin in Executive, Leadership and Personal Coaching.

In order to provide expert coaching for sports administration and governance, it’s essential for me to understand my clients ambitions, the challenges they face, and their unique strengths.

I base my coaching around some core principles that I have developed over the course of my career. Focusing on these principles has allowed me to provide effective, transformative support for a diverse range of clients. While I tailor my work to the needs of each individual client, I have found these principles to be universally effective. They are as follows:

As you can see, a crucial part of my role is to help clients to identify and follow their own paths. I do not provide “one size fits all” coaching. I collaborate closely with my clients to help them develop a clearer concept of their ambitions and how to achieve them. It’s extremely important for me to work closely with a client on a clear plan and to follow it together. We will also adapt strategies as we progress where necessary. I have found throughout my career that this is the most effective way to achieve true, sustainable success. 

 

My focus on positive regard means that I will always try to help my clients to develop their own ideas and strategies. I don’t provide standard concepts for everyone that I work with, but help my clients to use their own unique strengths. I also help my clients to relate to and collaborate with others in positive, effective ways.
